I love jewelry, and I especially love it when it carries a message. La Clé does just that. These beautiful hand dipped keys all symbolize something unique. Each color key represents a special meaning. I love that each key can be customized with your own message! I just had to order one that said #girlboss on it, naturally. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to chat with founder, Deanna Saracino to hear her story about how this wonderful company started.
How was the La Clé brand born?
La Clé was born from a dream I had to create a brand with meaning. About a year and a half ago I finally took the opportunity to work towards creating a piece of jewelry that allowed people to make a difference.
What does a day in the life of La Clé?
It is a lot of multi-tasking! When you run your own business you have to wear many different hats. From social media to filling orders, customer service, marketing, taking photos, working with bloggers, design…you name it, everyday i have to touch on all aspects of the business to keep things on track and running smoothly. I also run another company so I am juggling other tasks as well. It is really important to be organized and find time to plan ahead so that you don’t waste time for forget important tasks.
Where is your favorite place to get inspiration for your work?
I love instagram! It such a fun platform to see what people are liking and posting.
What is your favorite part of being an entrepreneur?
I love being in control of my own success. It has been an amazing transition working for myself. It is so great having flexibility in my schedule to be able to do the things I want to do. I can travel and work from anywhere really which is great! It is a lot more work, but it is all fun and challenging. This is what I want to be doing so everyday I wake up and I look forward to doing great things.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced being a small business owner so far?
I think the biggest challenge is sorting through so many different things you can do from a marketing stand point. I have learned so much in the past year and a half. Keeping up with the best strategies and practices and staying competitive and relevant on a small budget is really hard to do. You have to really learn and understand how things work today. It can be an overwhelming process but one that is really important to keep up with.
What piece of advice would you give others looking to start up their own business?
Take risks, be decisive and don’t give up! You are in control of your own success! It’s a wonderful thing!
What goals do you have for your business? What can we look forward to in in the future from La Clé?
I hope to keep expanding the line with apparel and key designs. My goal is to team up with some more major charities and continue to keep giving back as much as possible. We really want to give people inspirational pieces to wear and add to their style.
